Our History
Ann Craig started Karilee in 1979 so that her daughters could experience the many benefits of calisthenics that she had enjoyed as a participant in Melbourne. The name “Karilee” is made up from the names of two of her daughters – Kari and Lee.
The club started with participants in the Tinies, Subbies and Junior age groups and quickly grew to include Inters and Seniors. It now boasts over 120 participants in 6 age groups with the recent inclusion of Masters into the sport.
In 1991 the club became incorporated and is now run by a committee.
After years of commitment being the driving force behind coaching, costume design and administrative tasks, Ann is thrilled to see the club prosper. She is incredibly proud of the opportunites that it has provided to develop talented coaches from within the ranks, the innovative approach it brings to the sport, and the talent and passion it ignites in its pupils.
