Competitions
Developing our dancers and coaches through Competition
We believe that competitions are both fun and rewarding. Our teams enter a number of competitions throughout the year and we encourage our participants to enter the Solo & Duo Competitions to further develop their skill and love for the sport.
Performing on stage teaches participants how to cope with nerves and helps to develop life skills that will be valuable in the future:
- Collaboration and team work,
- Confidence & striving to be the best you can be,
- Integrity and how to win gracefully and loose with good sportsmanship.
The competition experience is introduced gradually starting in the Teenies/Tinies Age Group. Here we encourage the children to:
- Have fun
- Dress up and perform for their family and friends
- Learn to be part of a team
Local Competitions
Local competitions are organised by Calisthenic ACT and comprise of two solo/duo competitions (April and May), and two team competitions (August and September). Each year Karilee also runs an additional competition – the Karilee Solo Comp for all soloists from the ACT and interstate.
Interstate Competitions
Karilee provides all age groups from Subbies and above, the opportunity to travel interstate for competition each year. This gives members an insight into high level competition and provides a wonderful bonding time for participants and parents who take advantage of this opportunity. Teams can travel to Victoria, NSW, Queensland or South Australia.
